Once a serene, beautiful place in Northumberland, enjoyed by dog walkers, horse riders, cyclists, families and visitors from near and far. Now a mud bath, with deep trenches, smashed gates, damaged nature areas and destroyed grassland, fly tipping and impassable walk ways.

The level of destruction caused throughout the whole forest is truly devastating.

Visitors experience threatening and intimidating behaviour on a regular basis, with serious incidents of injury caused to local residents, walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

About Us

The Protect Slaley Forest Group was set up in late 2022 due to the damage that was being caused by illegal vehicles and the impact this was having on the area. With the help and support of the Police and other interested parties, Protect Slaley Forest is attempting to stop the use of the forest by illegal vehicles and return it to its previous calm and green state to ensure it is a safe and quiet environment for all to use.

We believe this is the only option, to enable badly damaged terrain to recover. Procedures and materials are already in place and we are proud to be voicing and actioning change, but a sincere amount of work is still required to stop entry and allow this beautiful space to rest and recover naturally.

If you feel you are in a position to help, please get in touch.
